Explaining the uses of child support

Child support is an important part of any child custody case. One parent will be required to issue payments to the other parent on a regular basis. Those payments can be used for just about anything when it comes to raising the children. But, what exactly can they be used for? We will discuss the uses of child support in today's post.

You can use child support payments to purchase the basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter for your child. These are exactly what most parents receiving child support use the money for, especially if they are working two or more jobs to make ends meet.

Child support payments can also be used to help pay for medical care. Children are required to be covered under some form of medical insurance, but these payments can help pay for anything that is not covered by the policy, such as out-of-pocket expenses and other bills.

Do you need to place your child in some sort of child care? If so, child support can be used for this care. This includes daycares, after school babysitters and many other options.

Educational fees can also be paid for with child support. These include sports fees, activity fees, books, registration fees, enrollment fees and any other fee associated with the education of your child.

If you find yourself in the midst of a child custody battle, or failing to receive the required child support payments, it's best that you rectify this immediately. You don't want the other parent of your child to fall so far behind in payments that he or she will not be able to catch up. This will only negatively impact you and your child.
